This small collection of materials try to simulate the hand sketch and technical drawing without plug in or script like Freestyle integration.
Adjust the following parameters on the materials panel (F5) for a better result.
[texture size] in [map imput] for the scale of the sketch (more or less thin)
[ref] and [size] diffuse parameter in the panel [shader] to enlarge or reduce the area of shadow
[smoth] in the same panel for the contrast between bright and dark areas
Activate the , color band in the [rampshader] as in the material 3 for a variable edge
Activate the , color band in the [rampshader] as in the material 5 for color the sketch
Activate the option [edge] in the panel [output] of the rendering. Here a fast example of application

you are surprise?
Only now I had the permission to publish these videos that relate to a multimedia piece made in Christmas 2008.
The show, directed by Gianfranco Protopapa, was called ” Il viaggio di Giuseppe e Maria” and was composed of theater, poetry, music, ballet and some projections.
In three days I made 10 videos that, in some way, recalled the scene represented.
Some of these were simple photo slide show, and have no sense once disconnected from the context, but others are interesting to watch.
In particular the scene “Il matrimonio di Maria” I made in Blender and Gimp: a reconstruction of the famous painting by Raffaello Sanzio -” Sposalizio di una Vergine ”
Another excerpt from work is the “Annunciation”
in fact even this had to be a simple photo slide show, but the beauty of the works has led me to create something special that I am pleased to show you.
Sometimes, during modeling, is useful to change the direction of the loop.
I have seen several tutorials that explain how to do but all require the modification of more faces. This, in some cases, may cause the creation of non-coplanar faces or triangular face or even be impossible.
i will show you a simple technique that allows the change of direction of a loop by changing a single face.
.1) The loop follows its natural path
.
.
.
.
.
.
. 2) Select the face of the intersection and turns it into two triangles (CTRL T)
.
.
.
.
.
. 3) Select the edge central and subdivide (w> Subdivide)
.
.
.
.
.
. 4) Select two triangular faces and merge, repeat with the other two faces (F)
.
.
.
.
.
. 5) Now I have two faces that seem triangular but are square. move towards the inner corner the central vertex.
.
.
.
.
.
. 6) Now the loop turns magically in the desidered direction
.
.
.
.
.
. 7) I can add many loops as i want , at the end I can merge the subdivided vertex with the vertex in the angle and merge the two triangular faces in a square.
and I realized that there were even multiple contributions for the same request, while the clouds entry was still empty.
Some time ago, while working on “progetto verde”, I made a survey about clouds that can be useful… so I registered on BlenderSwap and uploaded my file (you can download it from here).
I hope it’s not too late.
Considering this … maybe a scorpion can be useful too ? )

Groch is one of the actors of the short movie of “progetto verde”
Is a alien large tortoise that the protagonist uses as a transport.
I was inspired to animals of some fantasy movie
mixing elements of cyberpunk technology
the result seems convincing.
was the first thing that I modeled for the “progetto verde”
at this link you can follow the long gestation with all the steps, the errors and valuable tips of friends.
summarizing the important steps
I built this hut to test the possibilities of realism of the internal engine of Blender in archeleogical virtual reconstruction.
Since this object will not be part of the final work (assuming you manage to complete) i’m pleased to release in creative commons license
Fernando Luceri
Note: the object is released without the texture because some of these are not creative commons license
new features of grease pencil (surface stroke etc.) suggest me some alternative uses of this tool.
some really useful when modeling or animation (we’ll later) other fairly useless but very funny.
like this.
I could say that this technique facilitates the sketch 2D
(position in space of stroke, lights and shadows etc) but in reality it is just “artistic”.
maybe some of you will find a more productive use!
After seeing avatar
I absolutely had to give the third dimension to “progetto verde”
I know there is a way to do it in blender
but I preferred to export the image and the z buffer from Blender and use “bas-relief” http://www.3dmix.com/eng/index.php
which gives many more editing possibilities.
A gym to experiment and learn by pushing Blender to the maximum.
The story is loosely based on a novel by Frederick Brown titled “Something green”
A man is shipwrecked on Kruger III, a red planet, his clothing is characterized by a futuristic dirty and torn technology, mixed with leather and other natural elements. With him a beautiful native woman is on the planet.
Traveling through rough terrain and canyons on board of a giant turtle.
